Best food for healthy skin and coat

Nature's Variety was the only food our schnoodle, Katie, had been fed since she was a puppy. She had a beautiful shiny coat and no skin issues. About a year ago we started having problems finding Nature's Variety in our pet store so we decided to try another brand. Within weeks Katie was itchy, miserable, and her coat was dull. We didn't immediately make the connection to her food but instead took her to our vet. He was puzzled and suggested antibiotics, special shampoos and even an expensive special diet. Her scratching had developed into a bacterial infection. We suddenly realized she was allergic to her new dog food. We changed her back to Nature's Variety - driving about 20 miles to find a store that carried it - and slowly she improved. Now a year later she has a healthy coat and no more itchy skin. We won't change again. Nature's Variety is worth the drive.
